I know this feeling… I’ve been there 🥺 When you’ve been working on something for months or even years only to find out your experiment doesn’t work 😭 But you don’t want to give up 👩‍🔬 Because this experiment is EVERYTHING! 🧬 and if it doesn’t work… why did you even try? 🙁

Not to mention that you only have a set number of years of funding 💸 and if you don’t produce something within that time, you could be without an income AND a degree 😱 and then what were those years of effort for?! 🥺

I want to make it clear that I do not blame you for feeling this way 🥹 It’s a problem of the way PhDs have been developed in this insane academic system 😬 and is absolutely not a reflection of your capabilities as a scientist! 🧑‍🔬

Just make sure that if you are running into this problem 😭 You talk to the people around you ☕️ You never know where an unlikely solution can come from 😃 And don’t be afraid to discard something you’re working on either 🧪 Sometimes your time is better off spent trying something new than trying to make something old work 😊
