Lately, I’ve been documenting the unglamorous, ordinary parts of my life as a computer engineering major — so future me never forgets how far she came. Because behind every lecture, every exam, and frankly every reel I post…is a girl carrying the weight of expectations,dreams, and so many silent sacrifices. 🫂🫶

Some days are really hard, especially when it’s freezing outside and I have to commute to campus while running on little to no sleep. Some days I struggle to stay consistent, motivated, or even just present. I find myself feeling guilty for feeling tired. But the truth is, being the eldest daughter of an immigrant family comes with a unique kind of pressure.

I know I can’t afford to waste my potential. I know I have to work harder, push further—because my parents didn’t give up everything for me to play small. Their sacrifices fuel my drive and remind me that this journey is bigger than just me.

The stress, the sleepless nights, the constant juggling of assignments, projects, deadlines, and exams— it’s not easy. But InshAllah, all these efforts will one day pay off. I want to give my parents the life they deserve. I want to become someone younger me would be proud of. 

This is my journey—as a girl in STEM, as a computer engineering major, as a first gen student, and as the eldest daughter trying her best. If you’re reading this, thank you for being part of it, your support means more than you know 🤍
