Surrey is growing at a historic pace 🌆
But growth without investment is not progress.

I serve on the City of Surrey’s Environment and Climate Change Committee, and one thing is clear 🌱
Transit, climate action, affordability, and public safety are deeply connected.

Only a small share of Surrey residents live near frequent transit 🚍 even as our population has grown by hundreds of thousands in just two decades. That gap shows up every day through overcrowded buses, long wait times, missed connections, and a system that forces people to drive 🚗 not by choice, but by necessity.

Transportation remains Surrey’s largest source of emissions 🌍
When transit doesn’t meet demand, families pay the price through higher costs for cars, fuel, and insurance 💸
More vehicles on the road also mean more congestion and more collisions ⚠️
These outcomes are not accidental. They are the result of policy choices.

There are steps in the right direction, including RapidBus and planned Bus Rapid Transit ➡️
But incremental fixes cannot keep up with a city of this scale. If Surrey continues to grow, investment must grow with it across all neighbourhoods, not just a few corridors.

As one of British Columbia’s fastest growing cities, Surrey must actively advocate and push the provincial government for the transit funding our residents need 🏛️
Cities do not get what they deserve. They get what they demand.

Transit is not a luxury. It is essential infrastructure.
