🎙️ At the radio station, a caller said young people shouldn’t be involved in politics and that leadership should be reserved for those 45+.

Honestly, I smiled. Not because it was funny, but because it showed how backward this mindset still is.

We’ve had leaders well over 45, some in power since before many of us were born, yet communities still complain about inaction, broken promises, and empty leadership. So if age automatically equals experience and competence, why are we still disappointed?

Here’s the real question we should be asking. Why would a young person even want to get involved in politics?

Young people have time. They do not need power right now. But they step up because they see their future being decided without them and they refuse to stay silent.

Youth involvement is not about ego or impatience. It is about urgency. It is about protecting our future, demanding action, and challenging a system that has grown comfortable doing nothing while hiding behind age as a qualification.

Leadership is not measured in years lived. It is measured in action taken. And history keeps proving that change does not wait for permission.

Ask yourself. Are young people the problem, or are they the wake up call?
