Mr. Thind and and I discussed something incredibly important on his morning show at RedFM: voting.

One of the biggest concerns right now is that young people – yes, people like you and me – are underrepresented at the polls. The truth is, the lowest voter turnout is consistently among young people, and that’s worrying. Why? Because the policies being made today are going to have a direct impact on our future.

If politicians see that fewer young people are voting, they’ll naturally focus on policies that cater to older generations, thinking only about the present instead of planning for the future. But if young people show up and vote, we can influence change. We have the power to shift the focus to policies that address our concerns – things like climate change, affordable housing, education, and mental health.

Now here’s something interesting – according to a psychological study, if a person votes in their first election after turning 18, it tends to become a lifelong habit. So, if you vote now, you’re more likely to continue voting in future elections. This makes your first vote incredibly powerful!

So, please, make sure you’re registered to vote. Even if it takes just a few minutes out of your day to learn about the policies being promised and cast your vote – it makes a huge difference. Every vote counts. Every vote is a voice, and your voice can bring about real change.

As we approach the next BC election and with the federal election around the corner, make sure you stay informed about what’s happening in politics. This is our collective future at stake, and we all have a role in shaping it.

Make your vote count.

Thank you Mr. Thind and RedFM for supporting me and having me come on air to discuss such an important topic.
