I want to give some real praise to NYC Mayor Elect zohrankmamdani for selecting two people I call family and respect deeply, tamikadmallory and mysonnenygeneral, to serve on his Public Safety transition team. These two have been doing the real work long before titles and headlines caught up.

Tamika and Mysonne have spent years standing in the gap for our communities through their org untilfreedom. They have shown up in places where most folks only send thoughts and prayers, including here in Buffalo. They have fought for justice, spoken truth to power, rolled up their sleeves, and built trust in neighborhoods that have every reason to feel unheard. Their work is not theoretical. It is lived. It is earned. It is consistent.

We see the noise and the unfounded attacks flying around about Mamdani choosing them. But let me be real for a moment. Leadership is not about bowing to loud opinions. It is about choosing people with courage, clarity, and a track record of impact. If you are serious about public safety, you need people who understand the streets, the systems, and the souls caught in between. Tamika and Mysonne fit that description better than anyone.

NYC made the right call. And the work ahead is in very capable hands.
