The Pink Palace: A Hollywood Icon Since 1912 💖🌴

Before Beverly Hills was even a city, The Beverly Hills Hotel was already setting the standard for luxury! Built in 1912 by hotelier Margaret J. Anderson and her son Stanley S. Anderson, it was designed to attract wealthy buyers to what was then an undeveloped area. Architect Elmer Grey (who also designed the Pasadena Playhouse & Huntington Library) gave it its signature grandeur.
Meanwhile, Burton E. Green, an oil tycoon, had originally planned to drill for oil in the area. When that failed, he pivoted to developing a luxury residential community—naming it Beverly Hills. So while Green founded the city, it was The Beverly Hills Hotel that made it famous! ✨
