I found the East Coast’s best-kept secret and it’s only a 2.5 hour drive from DC ✨ I think it’s an easy summer trip/drive from DC if you want to get away for a few days!

Cape May, NJ was everything I needed. Quiet mornings, dreamy streets, sunset dinners… it felt like I stepped into a little vintage film.

The drive from DC was just under 3 hours, plus an 80-minute ferry but honestly, the ferry was so easy. I sat there for 80 mins and rested and also hopped on my laptop. Such an easy commute from DC and the peace, the food, the energy? So worth it.

✨Each of these spots felt like a little love letter to my taste buds:

🍴 Port Marina – dockside dining with breezy views and casual charm @portcapemay 
🌸 Beach Plum Farm – fresh garden-to-table meals surrounded by flowers and chickens (yes, really) @beachplumfarm 
🦐 Fish House - low-key, flavorful, and felt like eating where the locals go @fishhousecapemay 
🦞 The Lobster House – classic Cape May seafood, waterfront vibes, and very generous portions @the_lobster_house 
🥂 Congress Hall – timeless brunch spot with the prettiest outdoor seating and historic elegance @congresshall 
🍷 The Ebbitt Room @ The Virginia – old money elegance, soft lighting, and wine that practically whispers “main character energy”. It was my fave 🩷🥹 @virginiahotel @theebbittroom 

This trip was such a gentle reminder: you don’t have to fly far to feel rested, romantic, or restored.

Cape May is a short drive away, but the way it slows you down? That’s the real luxury.
