## Caption

⚠️ Your iPhone notes are NOT secure unless you lock the note with a passphrase or enabled Advanced Data Protection (ADP) for iCloud. Only then will the note(s) be end-to-end encrypted. 

This means that the note is encrypted on your device before it syncs to iCloud and only you can decrypt it. If you forget the passphrase, Apple won’t be able to help you because they don’t store the encryption key. 

👉 To lock individual notes: click the three dots on the top right > select lock

👉 To enable ADP: settings > apple account > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection

That being said, store your sensitive information in a password manager and don’t be like me and put things like API keys in unencrypted notes 🫣
