Listen pookie, one thing society will do is call you selfish when you said you need sleep. They’ll call you selfish when you hire help. They’ll call you selfish when you go to the gym, take the girls’ trip, keep your career, order the takeout, or lock the bathroom door for ten whole minutes of silence.

Selfish. For doing the bare minimum to stay human. Here is what nobody tells you before you become a mother: the world will shrink your needs down to nothing and then applaud you for disappearing. It will celebrate your exhaustion like it is a virtue. It will call your depletion “sacrifice” and your burnout “dedication” and your silence “strength.” And slowly, without realizing it, you will start to believe that wanting things for yourself is wrong(which is wild!!).
A mother who is running on empty is not a better mother. She is a resentful one. A disconnected one.

Being “selfish”, choosing yourself, protecting your peace, resting without guilt, saying no without an explanation, doing things purely because they bring you joy — is not the opposite of being a good mother. It is the foundation of one.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. But more than that: you deserve to have a full cup not because it makes you a better mother, but because you are a whole person who existed before that baby, and you will exist long after they no longer need you the way they do right now.
Here’s to being a selfish mom! I am giving you permission boo(not that you needed it sha ooo).

Ok bye, love you!!💕
