📖 Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, and Anne Frank Huis tickets sell out weeks in advance. Book before you leave Pittsburgh!
🚊 The city is huge! Forget cycling in the center. Use Google Maps and OVpay (tap to pay with your card) to master the Trams and Metros.
🚴 Always look three times before crossing. The red lane is not a sidewalk. They will ding you!
⏰ Schedule time to simply wander the quiet canals (Jordaan is perfect!)—it’s the best part of traveling solo.

BONUS TIPS ⤵️
🙋🏼‍♀️ Most Dutch restaurants are welcoming to solo travelers. For a quick, casual bite, try Foodhallen (indoor market) or a cozy brown cafe (traditional pub).
🪽 If you feel unsafe in a bar or club, ask the bartender for an “Angela Shot”—this is a secret code that signals staff to help you discreetly.
💳 Amsterdam is nearly 100% cashless. Don’t carry a lot of cash, and use Apple Pay/credit cards for everything to minimize pickpocket risk.
