What to Look for in a Hotel

Over the last few years, I’ve gone from “it’s just a place to sleep” to “if the hotel isn’t nice, I’m not coming”because I truly believe that where you stay can make or break your experience.

On my trip to Saskatoon last year with @discoversaskatoon, I stayed at @althotel, and it was stunning. It had everything I could want in a hotel, making the trip that much more exciting.

So, if you want the best hotel experience, here’s what you need to look for:

1. Location

How central is the hotel? Is it close to key attractions or in a safe, walkable area? More importantly, is it near the places you are actually interested in? Also, consider accessibility—if you’re not renting a car, is public transit an option? (This is a big one for me because I almost never rent a car when I travel!)

2. Reviews

Check recent guest experiences on Google, TripAdvisor, TikTok, and even Reddit. What are people saying? Don’t just skim the positive reviews, negative reviews can tell you just as much (if not more) about what to expect.

3. Amenities

Free breakfast? Rooftop pool? 24-hour room service? Free parking? (Believe it or not, some hotels don’t offer this!) Make a list of what matters to you and prioritize accordingly.

4. Room Quality

Modern decor, comfy beds, and spacious bathrooms make a huge difference and @althotel understood the assignment!
