Turn it into an OPPORTUNITY

Try:
“Thank you! Would love to hear your thoughts on what specifically went well, and if there’s anything I can do even better”

✨2: Proactive heads-up
When working with someone new

Try:
“I’m excited to work together - I wanted to let you know I’m very open to and really appreciate feedback.
Feel free to give suggestions any time.
And if you’d be open to it, I’d love to also periodically ask you for input and advice”

✨3: Immediately after deliverable / meeting

Try:
“Did you have any feedback on the [deliverable or meeting just now]? Anything I should continue, change, or stop doing?”

Pro tip - If they’re vague or say “nothing much” - you could ask for a SPECIFIC NUMBER:
“If I had to change or stop 1-2 things, what might they be?”

✨4: Periodic summaries

Try:
“Since we’ve been working together for a few [months], I was wondering if I could schedule time with you for feedback? I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on how I’m doing and opportunities to improve”
