The Omnicom × IPG merger is the biggest advertising shakeup we’ve seen in years — and it impacts far more than agency employees. It impacts the creative media we all consume every day❗️

As someone who’s worked in the industry for 5 years across LinkedIn and an AdTech startup, here’s my take:

1. Humanity has always been at the center of marketing.
The best advertising has always started with human understanding — real stories, real insight, and real people behind the work. When that gets sidelined, everything else suffers.

2. This merger is a shock to the industry and beyond.
Two of the largest global holding companies becoming one means less diversity in thinking, fewer independent voices, and more pressure on teams already stretched thin. With layoffs and consolidations, employees don’t feel they’re treated like people.

3. When you erase agencies, you erase culture.
Behind every agency name are teams who built communities, rituals, creative standards, and internal identities. Restructuring and consolidating is necessary in business — but at the same time it erases the heart of the work and the people behind it.

4. We’re seeing a shift toward smaller, thoughtful agencies and creators.
Talent is leaving. Clients are leaving. People want partners who care, not bureaucracy. And Indie agencies and creators are stepping up with work that feels more human, intentional, and culturally relevant.

This merger isn’t just a corporate headline — it’s a sign of where the advertising and marketing world is headed.

And no matter what you do for work, this merger will directly impact you via the media you consume everyday!
