Social media has us all cooked and I’ll be the first to say it.

It’s not enough to go to the gym in a matching set. It’s not enough to go to the gym in a slick back, clean girl aesthetic, minimal makeup. You gotta look like it was all natural.

I started getting invited to gyms and runs as an influencer last year and of course I have to film the experience to post about it to promote the gym/class/thing. This is a part of the exchange, I understand it and am appreciative for every invite.

But I didn’t anticipate was feeling like I always needed to make whatever I’m doing look aesthetic. Working out is innately hard. It’s not meant to be pretty. But what happens when “pretty people” aka the influencers and models I find myself with in these classes make it ‘pretty’? I’ve had instructors come up to me in the middle of the craziest cycling class and remind me to smile. What are we smiling about ?? 😓

We can’t even reach peak performance without making it a performance.

Working out but also looking good while doing it and recording it and sharing it is something I’m still trying to wrap my *13H of screen time daily* head around so bear with me.

But what are your thoughts? Do you feel this pressure too?
