Before school back at the end of August I was highlighting the likelihood of poos going a bit off kilter with the return to school, start in school or preschool. I asked you to track your little ones poo pattern and see how they were drinking and weeing. This can be a great way to spot constipation before it becomes a much bigger deal. I shared some free resources to help with increasing fluids, a tracker chart to log everything, poo charts to see what type of poo it was and loads of tips on how to poo more effectively. But if despite all this your little ones poos have slowed down fear not, you are not alone. This is really common and the above measures will help get them back on track. However if you feel there have been very long stretches between poos, your LO is in pain, appetite is really affected, they are only passing little balls of poo or very infrequent really large poos, any bleeding when pooing or they are actively withholding and or passing loads of small amounts of poo or just smears of poo/soiling then you will need to speak with your pharmacist or GP about the use on an osmotic laxative. Remember, an osmotic laxative is the first line in treatment of constipation in children. 
Don’t forget to do the sweetcorn test towards the end of the week to see how things are moving!!
