"I have learnt that the part of life's walk is not where or how far I move my feet, but how I am moved in my heart"

Spending time in Meghalaya and being around some of the world's best paddlers, I thought I would come back all fired up about kayaking. About being focused on improving my technique, about knowing how to paddle better. But I came back with a different set of understandings and insights than I originally planned for. For life, like a flowing river has her own path and her own destiny for you. We have become so disconnected from nature, we see beauty and value in nothing. The reason we treat nature with such callous disregard and destruction is cause in some ways we as humans have done that to ourselves too. Of sizing the other up and giving regards only through how they may benefit us rather than connecting with each other from a space of authenticity.

We ourselves as individuals have become ghost towns. Of housing dilapidated structures of ethics, morality and character within ourselves. The pollution, degradation and destruction of nature all around us only reflects the degredation of ourselves as a species.
To see the imprint of man's destructive tendency on a place as beautiful as Meghalaya. To see nature in all her glory and realise, this was how our planet was before cities and overcrowded structures wiped out things of value made me pause. What structures of ego and self deception am I building in my life today that is wiping out things of real value? What in my short sightedness am I chasing that's destroying something I may never be able to replace again?

I went to kayak. But came back with these questions instead. I thought I went to learn a new sport. But came back with a flashlight being shone on the psyche of us as species instead. Witnessing nature being destroyed only showed me how much of ourselves we've destroyed in the pursuit of never ending more - Anne, Wandering Dreamcatcher.
