Some places look less inhabited than kept.

Evening Island is about refuge, but also about theatrical isolation. The house sits on its own small world, surrounded by still water, held upright by those tall trees, while the clouds behind it pile up like architecture of their own. I wanted the whole thing to feel serene, but not passive. Protected, but not entirely explainable.

What makes this image work for me is the contrast between containment and scale. The island is intimate. The sky is immense. The reflection below doubles the quiet and gives the whole scene a kind of suspended hush, as if time has slowed down just enough for the place to become mythic.

This piece is really about solitude made luminous.
