“Notes from the Green Passage”

We began walking when the fog turned green. No one spoke at first; the sound of our footsteps was enough. The air smelled of copper and moss, as if the earth itself were dreaming. The old man carried a case of worn maps that led nowhere, and the girl, a jar of something she wouldn’t name. At every crossing, we met others...travelers with the same patient eyes, bound for cities that might no longer exist.

There were ferries that moved without sound, trains that passed through empty fields, and a ship that reflected itself perfectly on still seas...so still we wondered if we were moving at all. In the evenings, we shared stories about homes we couldn’t quite describe. Some had square windows and orange moons. Some had none at all.

The companions change but the rhythm doesn’t. The roads remain long and humming, alive beneath our shoes. Sometimes we stop for coffee in silent cafés where even the cups seem to remember us. Sometimes we wait by abandoned stations, watching the light shift and thinking that maybe the journey itself is the destination.

If anyone finds these notes, tell them: the green never ends. It is not a place but a passage. You don’t arrive here...you remember it.
