'The Faces You Meet on the Way Out'

They’re not heroes. Not yet. They’re the ones who hesitate at the door before stepping into your world. You’ve met them before, even if you don’t think you have. They’re stitched together from memory and future tense—equal parts someone you once loved, and someone you haven’t drawn yet.

These characters weren’t just generated; they were discovered. Sculpted from fragments—of environments, of other portraits, of narrative moodboards—and then tuned, warped, lit, and re-lit until they looked back at me.

This is what’s possible now: not just designing faces, but evoking lives. Eyes that ask questions. Skin that remembers light. This is where character design becomes storytelling. And this is the part of the process most people overlook—the part where you teach your models to feel.

That’s what I’m covering in the course too. The emotional layer. The stuff between the brushstrokes.

And yeah—less than two days left to sign up.

Fun Story:
One of the first faces I ever drew seriously was on the back of a pizza box. I remember this because I gave the character freckles and a chipped tooth and taped it to my wall like it meant something. And it did. Because even back then, I wasn’t just drawing a face. I was casting someone in a story. Now, I’m just doing it with weirder tools. Still taping them to the walls in my mind.

And before I forget—thank you. Truly. I’ve been blown away (again!) by how many of you have signed up for this new course. Just like with the first one, it’s been humbling and a little surreal to watch so many artists, designers, dreamers, and curious minds jump into this strange and beautiful process with me. You make this worth doing.

👉 Course link’s still in the profile. Doors closing soon.
