“The Architecture of Influence”

As artists, we inherit a long, tangled lineage of influence, emulation, and creative dialogue—one that stretches from cave walls to neural nets. The images I’m sharing here are a love letter to that lineage. They’re not the result of “theft,” as some might suggest, but of study, synthesis, and the deeply human urge to build strange new worlds on the shoulders of the ones that came before.

I’ve always believed that style—like a city—is something meant to be wandered through, not fenced off. These cities didn’t spring from nowhere; they’re made of echoes: of Moebius, of retrofuturism, of old pulp magazines, of the very idea that architecture might tell a story. The same goes for artistic tools. Just as we once took up brushes, pens, cameras, and tablets, we now have diffusion models and generative frameworks. These aren't shortcuts—they're chisels, lenses, scaffolds for new visions.

Stronger copyright laws and claims of style ownership don’t protect the creative commons—they calcify it. They build walls where there should be bridges. AI art tools, like the ones that helped shape these images, are not illegal. They are not stealing. They’re part of the continuum. They allow us to ask “what if?” and to answer it in visual form faster, with more risk, with more play.

So when you walk these streets and float above these clouds, you’re not trespassing—you’re exploring. And in doing so, you’re participating in the very process that has always defined art: remixing, imagining, reinterpreting, and dreaming forward.

Ironically, Picasso is widely quoted as having said that “good artists borrow, great artists steal.”

If this resonates with you—and if you’re curious how all of it actually works—my new course drops this weekend. It’s detailed, high-context, and full of wonder. Hope to see you inside.
