There are people in this world whose greatness doesn’t need introduction — it simply fills the room. 

I was fortunate enough to be in the same room as Asha Bhosle ji, several times, in the restaurants of Mumbai she graced with her presence. I never dared approach her. What words could possibly be worthy?
So I did the only thing I could — I’d nod. A small, silent act of reverence.
And every single time, those legendary eyes would find mine, and she would smile.
A smile that said: “I see you.”

Today, India has lost 12,000 songs worth of soul. A voice that belonged not just to Bollywood, but to the heartbeat of this nation — across eight decades, across languages, across generations.

She didn’t know me. But she made me feel seen. That is the mark of a truly great human being.
