✨4 Things Every Hopeful Travel Content Creator Should Know ✨

Sometimes I really have to pinch myself that my work is traveling the world and sharing the incredible landmarks, histories and culture with all of you. As glamorous as this sounds (and can be) people forget that it’s still work, and a ton of it. So if this a career you’re considering, here are 4 things you should know beforehand ⤵️ 

1. Itineraries are packed, I mean PACKED. 
Once you get to the point that tourism boards are hiring you and flying you out, know that there will be little to no free time. From dawn to dusk you’re on a schedule and shooting constantly. Outfit changes, deadlines, posting stories - it’s 24/7 work. 

2. Avoid sharing your rates off the bat. If a company contacts you about a collab, ask them timeframe, how many deliverables, usage and what their budget is. Keep asking budget until they finally tell you. Spoiler: they don’t like to, but they will. 

3. Get comfy in economy. Sure, top creators are being flown first & business class.l but more than likely you’re going to be slumming it in economy. Always give them a preferred airline and make sure you get those points! 

4. You will always have a camera roll full of content that needs to be edited. You will always be under deadline. Pay will be sent out in 30, 60 or 90 days AFTER all content is posted. You will be following up for weeks for insights. You will have to provide many edits. 

The point? THIS. IS. WORK. It’s incredible work with amazing opportunities, but just know behind every photo or reel I post, is a tired, hungry and stressed lady. But trust it’s all worth it….because it is. ❤️
