By this I mean doing a greater volume of the same work won’t get you noticed. 

You need to diversify! 

There comes a point in your career where your strategic judgement matters more than the actual work you do

Your boss wants to see if you have the capability to think strategically where they could see you genuinely running a department and calling the shots

3️⃣Leverage the knowledge of others

Mentors will be able to have conversations with their peers, your potential future manager in order to advocate and vouch for your work and character. 

Show your mentors what you are capable of in your conversations and make them aware of your desired next steps, they’ll be able to help you get there 🚀 

Your goal should be to turn your mentor into a sponsor and they want to actively get involved in your development.
