When my mom was 23, she took her first saree pictures with a digital camera to create her shaadi portfolio—because back then, that was a big deal. It wasn’t just a photoshoot; it was a rite of passage, a carefully curated album that would somehow determine the trajectory of her future.

Since I turned 25, she’s been gently (read: persistently) reminding me to do the same. ‘Beta, ek baar saree pehen ke photo toh bhej do,’ she’d say. And I’d laugh—because in a world of LinkedIn profiles and dating apps, the idea of a shaadi portfolio felt so outdated, almost comical.

But here we are. At 30, after partnering with my best friend’s brand shree_silk and finally getting dressed up, mom pounced on the opportunity. The pictures she’s been manifesting for years? Mission accomplished.

It’s funny how something that once held so much weight now feels like a joke to us. But maybe, just maybe, these little traditions meant something more—maybe they were just a different version of us curating our stories, just as we do today. Either way, mom’s happy, and well, here are the photos!
