Today was one of those founder days.

The kind where time plays tricks on you.

Always a little behind —the emails unanswered, the to-do lists that never shrink, calendars and inboxes filling up fast. Maybe being a little stuck in the past too — a little preoccupied by the event you weren’t invited to, the opportunity that wasn’t the right fit, or the thing that just never came through. It’s that feeling that if you were just faster or better, maybe you’d be where you’re “supposed” to be by now.

And yet, somehow, also too far ahead — your brain racing to what’s next, the next goal, the next challenge, the next door you’re hoping will open. The missed opportunity that lingers. The ‘what if’ that tugs at you. The “no” or “not yet” that lingers longer than it should. Are those the moments that change your trajectory forever? Some days, it feels like yes.

That’s where I was stuck today. Between the weight of what I hadn’t done yet and the pressure of what I’m supposed to do next.

I was carrying all of that on my walk home. Walking next to my husband and our dog, but not with them. Tired. Stuck in my head. Not in my best mood. Not really anywhere at all.

Then a little girl with a purple camera stopped us and asked to take our picture.

A six-year-old with a purple camera, fearless and full of joy, snapped a photo of me, my husband, and our dog… and then one of just the dog (priorities! and to be fair, might be one of the best photo of him ever taken.)

And in that small moment, what I’ve been circling around all day clicked into focus: you can’t rush where you’re supposed to be. And you certainly can’t think your way there. A reminder that this moment matters. The one you’re standing in, right now. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is stop long enough to see where you actually are or you just might miss how magical it is.

Her name was Grace. I don’t think that was a coincidence.
