Earlier this month, I had the privilege of speaking at uiowa to an incredible group of students and volunteers from their A Moment of Magic chapter (amomentofmagicatui ). I left that room feeling more inspired than ever.

We talked about the “why” behind AMoM, the reality of pediatric illness, and the bravery it takes to lead with your heart. I got to share the story of how this organization started in a dorm room with a dream and a princess dress and how, thanks to students like them, it’s now a movement reaching over 150,000 children.

But what moved me most? Hearing from the volunteers afterward.

“You made me feel seen.”
“You reminded me why I joined.”
“You made me feel more confident in my role as a volunteer.”
“You made us all feel like we mattered.”
“It was tea slay hunny boots the house down. Purr.” (Yes, that one made my week.)

Thank you to every student who showed up. Who laughed, cried, asked questions, opened your hearts, and shook your hands (IYKYK). You are the magic.

This visit was a powerful reminder that storytelling can build deeper connection, purpose, and pride — and when young people see themselves reflected in your journey, they’re more likely to believe in their own.
