This week for Women’s History Month, I’m honoring the incomparable B. Smith 🤎✨

Growing up, I watched her on TV and saw a woman who represented grace, excellence, and elegance in a way that felt powerful and attainable. She wasn’t just a model or a TV personality, she was a restaurateur, author, entrepreneur, and lifestyle pioneer who showed us that Black women could build brands, own spaces, and redefine what success looked like.

Before lifestyle content was “a thing,” B. Smith was setting beautiful tables, cooking with confidence, and teaching us how to live well all while breaking barriers in industries where we were often underrepresented. She inspired me and so many others to dream bigger, move with class, and create something of our own.

As someone who now shares food, storytelling, and memories on a plate, I recognize the path she helped pave. Women like B. Smith made it possible for creators like me to show up fully, proudly, and authentically.

Thank you, B. Smith, for the inspiration. Your legacy lives on in kitchens, dining rooms, and stories across the world. 💐 Follow me @spilling_the_sweet_tea so you don’t miss me recreating one of her recipes from her cookbook B. Smith’s Entertaining and Cooking for Friends.
