Honoring Black excellence through food this Black History Month 🍪

Today I’m spotlighting Wally Amos, the visionary who turned a homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe into a global brand and inspired generations of entrepreneurs. His journey is a reminder that big dreams can start right in your own kitchen.

I’m putting my own spin on his famous cookies, and y’all can find the recipe ⬇️ The grocery list is in my Walmart storefront.

1/4 cup @criscobrand shortening1/4 cup butter softened (half a stick)1/2 cup brown sugar1/4 cup granulated sugar1 egg1 teaspoon vanilla extract2 tablespoons milk2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 cup mini @nestletollhouse semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup of @nestletollhouse milk chocolate morsels

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line baking trays with baking mats or parchment paper.

Cream butter, shortening, and sugars together until well combined. Beat in egg, vanilla, and milk. Then add salt and baking soda. Add in flour and mix until well combined but try not to over mix. Stir in chocolate chips.

Scoop 1 tablespoon balls of dough onto prepared cookie sheets. Press the dough to flatten a bit.

Bake for about 14 minutes or until cookies are brown around the edges.

Allow to cool on a wire rack. And enjoy!
