Building on the success of its 3 ephemeral stores in the space of a year, Bordeaux-based brand asphalte_international has been setting up a permanent boutique in Paris since September 7, with a 200-square-meter address in the Sentier district.

Asphalte’s pop-up stores first opened in March and April 2023, then in November and December 2023, and finally from March to May 2024. A year that should be the most profitable in the brand’s history. And this after a 25% jump in sales, to 29 million euros, in a fiscal year 2023 that was not very kind to the French apparel market.

Asphalte offers men’s and women’s basics via a pre-order system, with on-demand production carried out mainly in Europe, notably in Portugal, Italy, Romania and France. In addition to this system, 15% of sales are generated from products already in stock, in particular the « Eternels », the most popular basics accounting for 50% of business.

But while 85% of online sales are made through pre-orders, the physical experience has led to a reversal, with 90% of sales made from stock for 10% of pre-orders placed from the point of sale. For the brand, the opening of a flagship store represents a long-term commitment to an alternative mode of operation its collection.
