LAPD officers fatally shot 53-year-old Cynthia Anne Ivie Akers on March 7, 2026, after a robbery rampage in Harbor Gateway turned deadly. Authorities say she armed herself during a 7-Eleven incident and later pointed what appeared to be a handgun at responding officers. Despite commands, she did not comply, and officers opened fire. The weapon was later identified as a pellet gun.
