🎭✨ Saturday was a deep dive into Puccini’s Madam Butterfly, thanks to the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and the Kansas City Museum!

Director Akiko Takeyama joined Kris Ercums (Spencer Museum of Art) and Lisa Shockley (Kansas City Museum) for a fascinating public dialogue exploring Orientalism, gender, race, and the layers of U.S.–Japan relations through this iconic opera.
