Things you might not know about the beach paradise that is Santa Teresa, Costa Rica:

First up, there’s only one road in town. Yep, just one. So, chances are you’ll bump into someone you know—or maybe someone you’d rather not.

Second, the electricity here likes to keep us on our toes. You might be mid-bite in a delicious dinner when, boom, the lights go out. It could be just a quick flicker or a blackout that lasts half the day. Who needs certainty anyway?

Third, this little beach town is as international as New York or London. People here come from all over the world. It’s pretty incredible to be living in an international hub right in the middle of the jungle.

Getting stuck in “traffic” might mean you’re behind a truck making a delivery, or maybe the driver just decided to take a lunch break. Island time, right?

It’s hot here. Like, really hot—all year long. We’re talking 28-32°C with humidity that could give a sauna a run for its money. Your skin might glow, but your body might want air conditioning.

The supermarkets are probably the most expensive in the world. But you have farmers market and can buy direct from the farmer.

Ninety-nine percent of the time, you’re rocking barefoot or flip-flops. Honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I wore sneakers or boots.

But here’s the thing—all these quirks are what make Santa Teresa so special and, dare I say, magical. There’s no rush. Take a breath and soak it in. You’re living in one of the most beautiful places on earth, where people actually look you in the eye when you pass them on the beach.
And you have the most mesmerizing sunsets !

I never appreciated these things before I got here, but now I can’t imagine living without them.
