How to become an invaluable software developer at work (and beyond) 🤔

This won't be about libraries, programming languages, hacks, tutorials or any of the "typical" coding stuff. It's about being a better communicator as a programmer 👩‍💻👩‍💻👩‍💻. Might seem irrelevant at first but think about it. Being a better communicator really does help you become a better developer.

For a few reasons:

1️⃣ When you're helping other #devs you'll be able to explain your #solution in ways that they will #understand

2️⃣ When you're getting #help from other devs, you'll be able to #explain the #problem the you're trying to solve.

3️⃣ People will #love 😘 to #work with you, let's be #real would you want to work with someone with poor #communication skills? It would take wayyyy longer to get things #done

4️⃣ Lastly, when great communication skills will reflect on the way that you #write #code 😉 (ex. Meaningful var/function names 😆), #documentations in-code #comments the list goes on...

#bytesized tip for today is ⬇️⬇️⬇️:
If you know/think that you're not a great #communicator know that #initially it's going to be #uncomfortable 😖 However, just like #anything keep at it. #practice and with time, you'll improve your communication #skills

One way I've #achieved this (especially for public speaking) is by talking out loud to #myself in the mirror. Listen 👂/watch 👀 people with #better communication 🗣️ skills and replicate them!

If you do that #enough times 🕒, you'll be good at it! Just like anything else!

You can bet your #team #boss && #company you work for will find you #invaluable if you can code and are great at communicating.
