She was told to share her land, that it would satisfy their hunger. That surrender was peace, that defiance was war.

She was told they were too strong, too vast, too relentless. That her people could not stand against their armies.

She was told to silence her voice, to stifle her fire, to become something smaller, something that would not threaten their fragile pride.

She was told the world would not help. That she was alone.

But they did not know her.

For she is the daughter of the volcano, the lava, the land that will never be theirs.

And though they may take, may ravage, may destroy...they will never break her.

They told her to surrender.
