🎈New Year Resolution? What Resolution?

This past year stripped me of any illusion of certainty.

In the space of one year—almost rhythmically cruel—I lost three close family members. My sister-in-law. My immediate senior brother. My mother-in-law. One loss in each of the first three quarters of the year, as though grief itself was keeping a timetable.

So when people speak enthusiastically about New Year resolutions, I listen—but from a distance. I honestly cannot remember the last time I consciously made one. Not because I lack intention or discipline, but because I have long surrendered my life to something deeper than annual self-promises.

I trust God’s plan and purpose in my life—unapologetically.

That has been my way. In seasons of joy and in seasons of pain. In moments of clarity and in stretches of deep confusion. Often, it is difficult—sometimes impossible—to see the end from the beginning. But I have learned that when the script finally plays out, the purpose almost always reveals itself. Sometimes gently. Sometimes painfully. Always truthfully.

As we step into a new year, nothing about my posture will fundamentally change.

🚩I will continue to trust in God’s will.
🚩I will continue to keep the faith—even when it is tested.
🚩I will continue to give my best in every situation, and trust that my best is enough.
🚩I will continue to give thanks and praise to God in all circumstances, in every way I know how.

And above all—God will continue to make me laugh.

Oh my God… this is beginning to sound suspiciously like New Year resolutions.

Perhaps the difference is this: mine are not declarations of control, but confessions of trust.

And that, for me, is more than enough.
