Is there enough information and support for breastfeeding mothers? 

I can say with near certainty, no there isn’t. As a mum of 3 I know from personal experience that I’ve had to push to get support on my feeding journey, but as someone with even a slight following I can also speak on the lack of knowledge that other mothers have when it comes to their own feeding journeys.

I posted this to my story and within 6 hours I’d had 5 mothers messaging me asking how they can pump more, and after explaining about making sure your flange size is correct each of them told me they had no idea of their size! 

A breast pump flange size refers to the diameter of the opening where the nipple sits during pumping. It’s typically measured in millimeters, and the correct size is crucial for comfort and effective milk expression, it can be the difference between 1/2 oz and 4 oz in a session! 

Flange sizing is an extremely simple thing to find out, it can be done in literally seconds by a professional with a measuring tool and done in minutes by yourself at home. 

If you’re a breastfeeding mum, or a soon to be head over to Google or your local lactation consultant and make sure the flange you are using is the correct size for you!
