There is nowhere in the world like the Cerrado -- a tropical savanna in Brazil that the Xakriabá people call home.

The Xakriabá people are deeply connected to this unique ecosystem, through history and ritual. 
.
The Cerrado has  nearly 5,000 plant and animal species only found within its expanse.

But due to commercial agriculture and deforestation, the savanna is only 20% of its original size. 
.
What remains of it lies mainly within Indigenous lands.
.
While the Xakriabá fight for legal ownership of their territory, they manage its biodiversity and protect their traditional way of life. 
.
As the current pandemic grows in Brazil, 
The Xakriabá must protect themselves from COVID-19 and a rise in illegal deforestation. 
.
What can you do to help the Xakriabá and other Indigenous people protect their heritage and the biodiversity of our shared planet?
