#EyeOnClimate // @lorenzomittiga: “Coral reefs in the Caribbean have declined since the 1970's from 50% to under 10%. That’s why the @reefrenewalbonaire has taken action to protect and restore coral reefs. They have produced thousands of corals, by growing them in “coral tree nurseries” on Bonaire and planting them in nearby degraded reefs.

The foundation currently takes care of 8 nurseries with over 115 trees in total. To date, over 22,000 corals have been outplanted back to Bonaire’s reefs. They also share their innovative techniques with communities locally and internationally.”
