“ONE MILLION. It's a number I've struggled to comprehend. According to the recent @un report, our human activity is taking down 1 million plants and animals, causing the sixth extinction event on this planet. However, at this difficult moment, it is vital that we look for and focus on solutions and the people protecting our world and the species that inhabit it. .
This is Najin, one of ONLY TWO northern white rhinos ON THE PLANET. However, an extraordinary team from Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (@leibnizizw) #Avantea, @OlPejeta Conservancy, @KenyaWildlifeService and @SafariParkDvurKralove is working hard to make sure this ancient species does not vanish. The group just successfully created two northern white rhino embryos from eggs extracted from the last two living female northern white rhinos. These embryos are now stored in liquid nitrogen to be transferred into a surrogate mother in the near future. We all have a role to play in preserving the planet and fighting the devastating effects of climate change and human made destruction. Don't sit this one out. Nature needs us now. Get involved. .
