“The image here shows a jack fish that was caught by spearfishing off the atoll of Ahe, in the Tuamotus -- a remote part of French Polynesia. Spearfishers hunt by holding their breath and shooting fish underwater. This allows them to see the fish -- know its size, species and many times sex -- before deciding whether to shoot or not. There is no bycatch, no tangled and discarded fishing line. Hours spent underwater tends to create a deep respect for the fish, as well as the entire marine environment. .
The mass production of meat, fish & plant products creates significant carbon emissions and waste. If you take a little time, you will hopefully discover a fun and interesting way to harvest some local & fresh food in your area, whether it's fish, mushrooms, berries, seaweed, or some other delicious treat. This is one of many small steps you can take towards combating #ClimateChange that can have a large cumulative effect.”
