Yesterday at #COP23, @UNFCCC & @WHO renewed their commitment to tackling public health challenges from #climatechange. Photojournalist @ashleycrowtherorg documented how acting on climate produces immediate health benefits in this #EyeOnClimate photo from Seoul, South Korea:⠀
⠀
"Air pollution is one of the largest and most concerning unintended consequences of development. The vast majority of air pollution is sourced from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil. When fossil fuels are burned, they not only releases carbon dioxide - the primary gas that contributes to climate change - they also release deadly particles that are, according to @WHO, responsible for millions of deaths worldwide each year. With billions of people exposed to air pollutants, I will have my #EyeOnClimate this year and will be pushing for our leaders and decision-makers to clean up our skies.”⠀
