As part of the celebrations for the women's month at the BCC Nigeria, my friend mercyfrank_ dragged me into a document project to spotlight women working in male dominated environments. We focused more on careers in the informal sector as well as manufacturing, engineering, fitnesst/body building, architecture, and real estate

A contentious issue is still the exclusion of women working in night shifts in production companies, according to the Nigerian Labour laws. I'm aware that this and other elements are being looked at as the entire law is being reviewed (this review started a few years back by NECA, CIPM, and other relevant bodoes. I'm not sure of the current starus).

The core of my conversation was on the need for us to see more women in the upper echelon of the society reaching out to pull up more women and girls who are further down the ladder. Especially those in really low income-generating environments who are taking their first steps in career or business.

There's not enough intervention or conversations on this class of women in the informal sector.

My thoughts...
