PRUNING:  Maximize fruit yield by pruning.  The best time to prune is during late winter to early spring while the tree is dormant to minimize stress.  Pruning involves removing deadwood, diseased, cross branches, inward growth, increased fruit size and ease of harvesting.  This will stimulate new fruiting wood (hence what you are currently seeing), enhance light penetration, and improve airflow circulation.
