The US will no longer issue visas to the spouses and children of US citizens if they are from the following countries:

Afghanistan, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Côte d’Ivoire, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Myanmar (Burma), Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Venezuela, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Technically there is an exception for some of the countries if issuing that visa is within the United States’s national interest but this is extremely vague and likely very difficult to prove.

This means that as it stands as of yesterday evening, as a US citizen, I cannot bring my spouse to the United States. Not even to visit.

A lot of Americans do not understand how difficult it is to bring a spouse to the United States legally. The process takes years of living apart while waiting for visa interviews.

I will continue to make these posts raising awareness about this issue. It receives almost no press and politicians from both sides of the aisle never talk about it. Please like and share this video to bring awareness to it.
