The Full Baja 🇲🇽

This was one of the most memorable weeks of our travels together

We rented a car from sampaexplore with a rooftop tent and drove from Tijuana to Los Cabos in Mexico over 10 days visiting some incredibly beautiful places along the way.

It’s a great first time introduction into the route and you can rent all the gear from them making for a very easy experience. Literally just show up with your clothes.

Many of the campsites on the way down were free especially on the beaches but if you want more luxuries like warm showers, toilets, and electricity, we paid $5-$20 per night depending on the place.

The whole experience is very safe. We met so many Americans and Europeans doing the same route. Some in rented vehicles and others drove or shipped their own. They will spend a week at each beach and spear fish for food along the way.

Fortunately all the cars come with this rooftop water tank that is painted black and naturally heats up in the sun. This was great for a quick hose shower or washing dishes when staying at the more remote places.

We cooked most lunch and dinner at our campsites with Nike making her special spicy noodles and egg that’s a Nigerian staple. But we also stopped for lunch at many excellent taco shops and small restaurants along the way.

My only regret is we only did 10 days. 15 would have been better. It would be nice to spend more than one night in each place as a few we really wanted to stay for longer. And we should have brought a wireless speaker! The car radio was good but you have to be nearby to hear the music.

Anothet thing that was so helpful is sampaexplore gave us this epic Google map with all the cool camping spots along the route. They started this company a few years ago because they themselves love camping along the Baja Peninsula and wanted to make it accessible for more people. We had some car trouble and they did a great job responding to us and helping us fix it along the way too.
