After 20 years in finance, these are the investing lessons I wish I followed sooner now as a 46 year old former finance managing director. Often young women are not taught much about investing for their future but this is really important for all women to know.

1. Start early. Invest consistently.
Even simple ETFs like QQQ or VOO can quietly build serious wealth over time. Looking back, many luxury purchases I didn’t need could have turned into $$$ if they’d stayed invested vs in my closet or donated. Time is your biggest advantage. This doesn’t mean never splurge but just be more mindful.

2. Never panic during market crashes. The market has always recovered. Panic selling is one of the most expensive mistakes investors and people make and it’s completely avoidable.

3. Don’t invest in things you don’t understand. Chasing trends and “quick wins” usually ends the same way. Patience and clarity always beat hype over a long period of time.

True wealth is built through time, discipline, diversification and staying invested. It’s hard in an instant gratification world - but this approach wins every single time.

Save this for your future self (start putting money away and invested even for your kids and don’t touch it). Share with someone who needs to hear it! Trust me. You will one day wake up to incredible savings and wealth if you stay disciplined.
