Inspirational Moment /  Moment d’inspiration .
As a Let’s Talk Science Outreach volunteer, I have taught in multiple different classrooms, ranging from kindergarteners to high school students transitioning into university. In every class, I have encountered students that are exceptionally bright, with an infectious enthusiasm. At the Let’s Talk Science booth during Science Rendezvous, there were two kids who dropped by and spent over an hour engineering a contraption in order to get a ball into a cup. They were completely immersed! In a high school classroom, I’ve encountered students who were incredibly engaged with the scientific literature. These types of interactions inspire me each time to be as resourceful as possible, to facilitate their journey into science.

En ma qualité de bénévole du programme Sensibilisation Parlons sciences, j’ai enseigné dans de nombreuses classes allant de la maternelle à la fin du secondaire, quand les étudiants s’apprêtent à entrer à l’université. Dans chacune de ces classes, j’ai rencontré des jeunes exceptionnellement brillants et dotés d’un enthousiasme contagieux. Au kiosque de Parlons sciences lors du festival Science Rendezvous, deux d’entre eux ont passé plus d’une heure à concevoir et à fabriquer un bidule qui leur permettrait de mettre une balle dans un gobelet. Ils étaient complètement absorbés par leur tâche! Dans une classe de secondaire, j’ai aussi croisé des étudiants qui s’intéressaient à fond à la littérature scientifique. Ce genre d’interaction me pousse chaque fois à être aussi ingénieuse que possible, de façon à encourager l’avancée des jeunes dans l’univers des sciences.
