‼️Here’s a Black history fact and let’s get something straight first.

‼️“Black” isn’t even an ancestral identity.

It’s not a tribe.
Not a nation.
Not a lineage.

It’s a label.

A government box.

Paperwork.

Before colonization, nobody called themselves “Black.”
People were nations, clans, languages, and tribes with real names.

Then the state collapsed everybody into one category.

In 1924, Virginia passed the Racial Integrity Act and began reclassifying Indigenous people as “Negro” on birth certificates and legal records.

Not because they changed.
Not because they weren’t Indigenous.

But because the government wanted tribes erased.

Whole nations didn’t disappear.

They were misfiled.

Records altered.
Identities stripped.
Families relabeled.

That’s not history fading.

That’s paper genocide.

So fast forward to today — many people from Virginia who grew up thinking they’re “just Black” are actually Indigenous to these lands, with lineages that never left.

And not to mention the pre-Columbus Africans who crossed the Atlantic and mixed with Native tribes long before slavery ever started.

This isn’t theory.

It’s buried history.

We weren’t lost.

We were relabeled.

History didn’t erase us.

They changed the paperwork.
