The term “Nottoway” comes from an Algonquian word meaning “snake” or “enemy” a name given to the Cheroenhaka Tribe, not chosen by them.

The true name is Cheroenhaka, meaning “People at the Fork of the Stream” an Indigenous, Iroquoian-speaking tribe from Southampton County, Virginia, the same land where Nat Turner was born and led his rebellion.

In 2025 — the Year of the Snake 🐍, the Nottoway Plantation in Louisiana, one of the largest slave plantations in the South, burned to the ground 🔥.

This is deeper than coincidence:
	“Nottoway” = snake
	 2025 = Year of the Snake
